Kinder selection and quality control

The characteristics and quality of this ingredient are the heart and soul of Kinder's bakery and some of Kinder chilled products, like Kinder Pinguì and Kinder Milk-Slice, and fundamental to giving our sponges their distinctive taste, colour, fragrance, and consistency.

The eggs used in our products are selected through rigid criteria to guarantee their quality, freshness and nd we have full traceability of our eggs, to ensure they are sourced responsibly, through selected suppliers that have control over the lifecycle of their hens and on the quality of their feed.

Back in 2014 we reached our objective of using 100% cage-free eggs within the EU. Our European egg supply chains accounts for 95% of all the eggs we use globally. However, our commitment is to source only cage-free eggs and egg ingredients globally by 2025. In 2013, we developed two new manufacturing plants outside Europe, in Turkey and Mexico. The eggs used in these plants make up approximately 5% of our global consumption and we are working with our suppliers to supply them with cage-free eggs, which are not readily available within the markets, to fulfil our commitment by 2025.
